Course Description

This one year programme, validated by QQI is suitable for both mature students and school leavers, who would like to work in the area of Community Health. The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision in a range of community health service settings or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.

Work Placement

Work experience is a core element of this program and we will assist you to secure work experience. Many Graduates obtain employment as a result of their work experience placement.

Entry requirements

QQI L4 or equivalent for all Level 5 courses.
If the Leaving Certificate has been completed, details should be submitted with your application.
Mature learners may be exempt from the academic requirements.
First round offers will be made in May to all eligible applicants with subsequent offers made in September.

Course Certification

This course provides graduates with a QQI Level 5 Community Health Services 5M4468 major award.

Progression:

On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to work under supervision in a range of community health service settings such as nursing homes, homecare assistants, community support, as a care assistant in a hospital or health care establishment or to progress to further and/or higher education and training.

Through the QQI FET Links Scheme-Graduates can apply entry to Year 1 of related courses in Universities and Institutes of Technology with continuity of SUSI grant / BTEI if applicable. Examples of linked courses including:
